About

Making everything better, since 2007.

To be fair, that claim should be limited to web, logo and print design. Simply put, if it can look better, then we do it. So until magical Sublimer All Purpose Design Improver™ cream actually exists, we’ll do it the old fashioned manual way.

Sublimer is based in Orange, NSW. Where the roads suck but your logo doesn’t have to.

1979

Why don’t we go all the way back? Canberra, 1979. A year so good Smashing Pumpkins would go on to write a song about it. It’s around this time that I decided to spawn in. I cried a lot and couldn’t walk for a year. Tough times.

1991

If you’re 12 years old and your parents buy a servo, guess where you work now? Pumping fuel, cleaning windscreens, checking oil and air. I wouldn’t have let me anywhere near a car. It was a different time, and it was Dubbo.

1995

What a year for film and 90’s alt-rock. It was also my first time getting monstered by Photoshop, while working as a screen printer. Set lots of clothes on fire and inhaled a plethora of oil based ink fumes. Pretty standard 90’s really.

1998

Conveniently, a screen printer was needed in Orange at a fridge factory, so that happened. They had respirators and no fires. I may have crashed a golf buggy and a forklift. Not at the same time though, that would’ve gotten me fired.

2006

Quit your real job and become a freelance cartoonist they said, it’ll be fun they said. So there I was, living the starving artist dream. Turns out, doing political editorial cartoons four times a year isn’t gonna pay the bills.

2007

So I launched xenologo, starting with websites, then progressing into logo and print design with a super simple philosophy of ‘I’m sure this could look better’. That wasn’t a terrible idea.

2017

After hearing xenologo butchered too many times, I came to the late understanding that a business name probably should be relatively simple to pronounce, so a rebrand was in order. Sublimer sounded good.

2025

So that brings us to now. The Sublimer rebrand is complete. Reworked, redone and now relaunched. Like new underwear, it feels little constricting at first, but then fresh, dynamic and very, very comfortable.
